<p>The present invention relates to novel substituted bis-1, 2, 4-trioxanes i.e. compounds containing two 1, 2, 4-trioxane moieties of general formula (6) useful as antimalarial agents. This invention also relates to a process for the preparation of novel substituted bis-1, 2, 4-trioxanes i.e. compounds having two 1, 2, 4-trioxanes moieties. More particularly the present invention provides a process for the preparation of bis-1, 2, 4-trioxanes of general formula (6) wherein R<SUB>1</SUB> and R<SUB>2</SUB> represents methyl, or part of a cyclic system such as cyclopentane, cyclohexane, adamantane and A is a spacer such as oxygen or oxygen substituted aromatic moieties. These bis-1, 2, 4-trioxanes of general formula (6) are new compounds and are useful as antimalarial agents. These compounds have been tested against multi-drug resistant malaria in mice and have shown promising antimalarial activity. This invention, thus relates to pharmaceutical industry.</p> |
