<p>The invention discloses a method for removing styrene from waste airstreams and for purifying styrene, in which a waste airstream including styrene is passed through synthetic hydrophobic sorbent particles so that styrene from the waste airstream is adsorbed by the synthetic hydrophobic sorbent particles resulting in an airstream substantially free from styrene or substantially purified styrene.</p>
