The device has a pot (1) comprising a closed storage tank (2) for water and a storage tank attachment (3) for plant soil and plants. An edge (4) of the attachment has a lower peripheral wall region (5) provided with an opening, and an upper closed peripheral wall region (6). A suction hose (8) leads through in the storage tank upwardly from the attachment, and has an upward lead through end (10) connectable with a fluid distributor (12), which is inserted in the plant soil. An independent claim is also included for a method for irrigating planting in a container.
