PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solvent-based alkyd paint composition capable of reducing formaldehyde emission upon formation of a coating film while maintaining other performances, through addition of a urea compound serving as a formaldehyde adsorbent component. SOLUTION: The paint composition contains a resin derived from an unsaturated fatty acid, a pigment dispersant having an acid number and the urea compound. In the alkyd paint composition, the solid content of the resin derived from the unsaturated fatty acid is 30-80 mass%, the solid content of the pigment dispersant having the acid number is 0.01-5 mass%, and the content of the urea compound is 0.01-2 mass%.
