PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joining method for joining metallic members with each other by using a joint member by which any joining defects degrading the appearance, airtightness and watertightness of a joined part are hardly formed. SOLUTION: The joining method comprises a repair process of performing the friction stir welding of plasticized regions W2, W3 formed on a joint member 20 by a joint permanent joining process and an integrating process. In the repair process, the friction stir welding is performed on the plasticized regions W2, W3 by relatively moving a rotary tool C for repair inserted in the plasticized regions W2, W3 from an upper face side of the joint member 20 in the direction along an exposed side surface 22 of the joint member 20 to be exposed to a side surface of a metallic member 10.
