PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a longitudinal and lateral detection sensor for low profile. SOLUTION: The longitudinal and lateral detecting sensor is equipped with a magnetic body 1, a base board 2 having a surface 2a in which this magnetic body 1 is movable, a container 4 constituting an inner space 3 in which the magnetic body 1 is housed together with this base board 2, four detection spaces 5a to 5d which are expanded toward four directions of 90°spacing in the same flat plane in the inner space 3, two magnetism generating devices 6a, 6b formed on the base board 2 in the respective detection spaces 5a to 5d, and a magnetism detector 7 installed between these two magnetism generating devices 6a, 6b, while the magnetic body 1 seen from a direction perpendicular to the base board 2 is arranged to have a circular shape, and thickness of the magnetic body 1 is made smaller than the diameter of the magnetic body 1 seen from a direction perpendicular to the base board 2.
