PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magenta colorant which maintains a high image quality, has a high light density, and can especially be used for phase-changing inks. SOLUTION: The colorant compounds, for example, a maleic anhydride copolymer structure-having compound represented by formula of Figure. In the formula, R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>4</SB>are each H, an alkyl, or the like; R<SB>5</SB>and R<SB>6</SB>are each an alkyl or the like; (a) and (b) are each an integer of 0 to 3; Y is O, S or the like; R is an alkyl or the like; (n) and (m) are each an integer of about 1 to 1,000.
