PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head separation type camera capable of raising compatibility of a camera head. SOLUTION: The head separation type camera 1 includes: the camera head 2 having an imaging element 5; and a camera control unit 3 for controlling the camera head 2. The camera head 2 is removably attached to the camera control unit 3, and includes: a driving part 6 for driving the imaging element 5 based on a clock signal; and a data storage part 8 for storing data for the camera head, which is set by each camera head 2.
