PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the arrangement of a rocker shaft in a limited space between a cylinder head and a head cover in an internal combustion engine using the rocker shaft. SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine, a camshaft 12 and the rocker shaft 14 are supported by the head cover 2. More concretely, the camshaft 12 is supported by bearings comprising a plurality of journals 4 formed inside the head cover 2 and cam caps attached to the journals 4, and the rocker shaft 14 is supported by through holes 10 formed at the cam caps 6.
