PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional molding apparatus having high flexibility in selecting usable materials compared to conventional additive manufacturing (AM) techniques.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a three-dimensional molded object is provided, which includes: a step of forming particle images through an electrophotographic process by a plurality of particle image forming means a, b using different types of particle materials; a step of sequentially transferring the particle images to a layer bearing member 11 from the respective particle image forming means to form a particle layer 40 that is one layer of materials; a step (b) of softening the particle layer 40 by controlling temperature to a first target temperature while maintaining the particle layer 40 carried by the layer bearing member 11 in contact with a three-dimensional molded object 41 being manufactured; and a step (c) of solidifying the particle layer 40 by controlling temperature to a second target temperature lower than the first target temperature so as to fix the particle layer 40 to the three-dimensional molded object 41 being manufactured.
