A optical network management system for an optical video transmission apparatus and a management method thereof are provided to receive status information from a remote optical transmission apparatus and a center optical transmission apparatus and output the general status and abnormality of the remote optical transmission apparatus and the center optical transmission apparatus on a screen, thereby monitoring the remote optical transmission apparatus and the center optical transmission apparatus centrally in a remote place. A management server(300) includes a main communication unit(310), a status information processing unit(330), an output unit, a preliminary communication unit(320), an input unit(350), and a DB(360). The main communication unit receives center-sided status information and remote-sided status information from at least one center optical transmission apparatus(200). The status information processing unit processes the received remote-sided status information and center-sided status information to generate status information for outputting the power supply status of a remote optical transmission apparatus(100) and the center optical transmission apparatus, the status of communication cards, the communication status of the communication cards, and the abnormality of power and communication. A power control signal generator(332) generates a power control signal to be transmitted to the center optical transmission apparatus or the remote optical transmission apparatus. A communication converting signal generator(334) generates a communication converting signal which is transmitted to the remote optical transmission apparatus and converts the communication path of the remote-sided status information.
