A foldable portable device is provided with a first case (3) having a liquid crystal display section (display section) on the surface; a second case (5) having an operating section on the surface; and a hinge section (6), which connects the first case (3) with the second case (5) to be freely folded with an opening/closing axis (X) at the center, and supports the first case (3) so as to have the front and the rear inverted with a vertical axis (Y) arranged vertical to the opening/closing axis (X) at the center. The liquid crystal display section is supported on the first case (3) through a cam mechanism (10) (supporting mechanism) to be switched in a vertically-long status and a horizontally-long status.
