<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which troubles are suppressed, such as an increase in waste toner, scattering of toner and fog which result from replacement of a supply toner container. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 includes: an image carrier 1 with a movable surface; and a developing device 4 which develops an electrostatic image formed on the surface of the image carrier 1 with the use of developer having toner and carrier, the developing device 4 including a developer container 40 storing developer, a developer carrier 41 with a movable surface for conveying developer in the developer container 40 while holding the developer thereon and stirring members 42 and 43 for stirring developer stored in the developer container, wherein the supply toner container 6 storing toner to be supplied to the developing device 4 is attachable and detachable. The image forming apparatus has configuration where during a period after the supply toner container 6 is replaced but before the first image formation is started, the image forming apparatus 100 performs a stirring operation such that the stirring members 42 and 43 are driven while the drive of the image carrier 1 is stopped. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
