<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable image forming system in which a communication line between an image forming apparatus and post processor does not change regardless of whether an inserter device is attached to the image forming apparatus or not. <P>SOLUTION: The inserter device is electrically connected to the image forming apparatus through the post-processor. When the inserter device is not attached, it is simply disconnected from the post-processor. Accordingly, whether to attach the inserter device to the image forming apparatus or not does not affect the connection between the image forming apparatus and post-processor, that is, the signal communication line.
