<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein excellent display quality is easily attained without especially complicating a manufacturing step, as a transflective liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display has a pair of substrates opposed to each other and a liquid crystal layer provided between the substrates and having a reflection part performing display by reflecting light by a reflection electrode and a transmission part performing display by transmitting light from a back light in a pixel, wherein one substrate of the pair of substrates has the reflection electrode disposed corresponding to the reflection part, a transparent electrode electrically connected to the reflection electrode and disposed corresponding to the transmission part and an alignment layer provided on the liquid crystal layer side surface thereof.
