PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a magnetic sensor without depending on the angle of application of a magnetic field. SOLUTION: This magnetic sensor operating method for operating the magnetic sensor composed by providing two magnetoresistive elements arranged for each of an X direction and a Y direction perpendicular to each other facing the direction, and constituting a bridge circuit of these four magnetoresistive elements, includes a first process for measuring a bridge voltage Vx of the bridge circuit 10 after saturating the resistance of the magnetoresistive elements 11, 14, by applying a bias magnetic field in the X direction to the two magnetoresistive elements 11, 14 arranged facing the Y direction, a second process for measuring a bridge voltage Vy of the bridge circuit 10 after saturating the resistance of the two magnetoresistive elements 12, 13 by applying a bias magnetic field in the Y direction to the two magnetoresistive elements 12, 13 arranged facing the X direction, and a third process for acquiring the output of the magnetic sensor from the sum of the bridge voltage Vx by the first process and the bridge voltage Vy by the second process.
