<p>A voltage regulator is provided to enhance stability by performing a protecting function of a protecting circuit and preventing an output of the voltage regulator when output voltages thereof are excessively lowered. A voltage regulator includes an output transistor(1), a dividing voltage circuit(R1,R2), a reference voltage circuit, an error amplification circuit(21), a protecting circuit(50), and a controller(22). The output transistor outputs a constant output voltage based on an input voltage. The dividing voltage circuit outputs a dividing voltage based on the output voltage. The reference voltage circuit generates a reference voltage. The error amplification circuit receives the reference and dividing voltages, and controls the output transistor in order to output a constant output voltage. The protecting circuit detects an abnormal state of the voltage regulator and controls the output voltage of the output transistor based on the abnormal state. The controller between the error amplification circuit and the output transistor controls the output transistor to increase the output voltage when a signal for increasing the output voltage is received from the error amplification circuit, and stops operation of the output transistor when an abnormal signal is received from the protecting circuit.</p> |
