<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior liquid crystal medium having desirable characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal medium containing at least one of compounds shown in formula I, further novel compounds shown in the formula I, a method for preparing them, an electronic and an electric-optical apparatus, the use of them especially in an LC display and the LC display provided with the compounds, are provided.
