PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device equipped with a spacer excellent in anti-static effect, with electron beams hardly dependent on temperature, and a spacer used for it. SOLUTION: The spacer of the image display device is to be an oxide thin film showing electron conductivity on the surface of a glass substrate, and that oxide thin film is formed of solid solution of an oxide showing metallic electric conductivity and another oxide with higher resistance than the former. As an oxide showing metallic electric conductivity, there is ruthenium oxide, and as oxides with higher resistance, there are titanium oxide, iridium oxide, hafnium oxide and zirconium oxide.
