PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-diagnosis device for a variable valve timing control device applied to an engine with a turbocharger. SOLUTION: The self-diagnosis device for the variable valve timing control device of the engine 10 is provided with a first setting means (figure 3) setting a reference value of supercharging pressure from detected engine rotation speed and an intake air quantity, and first failure determination means S6, S8 determining whether a detection value of the supercharging pressure is within a calculated reference value of the supercharging pressure or not and determining a failure of the variable valve timing control device variably controlling the valve timing of intake valves if a detection value is not within the reference value of the supercharging pressure.
