PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device including an airbag of new structure, capable of extending a driver's movable distance upon the deployment of the airbag. SOLUTION: The steering device 22 comprises a steering wheel 12 fixed at an upper part tip end portion of a steering shaft; a wheel pad 38 disposed on an inner peripheral side of the steering wheel 12, and storing the airbag inside; and a supporting mechanism 34 supporting the wheel pad 38 at predetermined level from the tip end portion of the steering shaft. The supporting mechanism 34 pulls in the wheel pad 38 toward the steering shaft upon the deployment of the airbag 14, and extends a movement allowable distance of the chest portion of a driver moving toward the steering shaft following contraction of the deployed airbag, thereby easing impact force added to the driver.
