PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear alignment device and a gear machining machine which reduce alignment time. SOLUTION: In the gear alignment device, before carrying out gear machining by meshing a grindstone 13 with a gear like workpiece W, and carrying out relative rotation, gear alignment is carried out such that the grindstone 13 and the workpiece W are in a rotation phase relationship allowing meshing. It is provided with: a tailstock 16 supported movably in an axial direction of the workpiece W, pressed against a rotary table 18 side rotating the work W around its axis, and rotatably holding the work W, and a sensor 33 provided on the tailstock 16, and detecting a rotation phase by facing the workpiece W when the workpiece W is held by the tailstock 16.
