PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of applying a resin or the like on a substrate having fine rugged structure so as to fill recessed parts without involving bubbles, and a material to be coated which has the fine rugged parts and is coated with the resin or the like without involving bubbles. SOLUTION: A coating liquid is discharged to the surface of the material to be coated, as the liquid having a particle diameter of 20-90% of the diameter of the recessed part formed on the surface of the material to be coated.
