A reproducing apparatus generates a virtual package in response to an application construction request. After the virtual package is thus generated, a virtual file system (23) permits to make the access to a file on a removal medium, which is stored in 8.3-type, by using a different name of a long file type on the basis of a merge management information file in which the correspondence between the file path of 8.3-type and the file path of long file type is indicated.
