<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methanol fuel battery system endowed with substantial airtightness and with excellent power generating efficiency per unit volume. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cartridge 1 comprises a solid methanol housing member 5 of an outside hollow cylindrical shape, a switching member 8, and a slide mechanism 9. The slide mechanism 9 consists of a guide member 12 of a circular shape, and a slide member 13. A fuel battery cell unit 2 has two MEAs 3 each arranged at top and bottom with fuel electrodes 3A inside for each side wall so as to structure six pieces of side walls 21 of a hexagonal column with a hexagonal hollow cylinder shape capable of housing the fuel cartridge 1.
