PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic tensioner wherein a check valve unit can be easily and firmly assembled on a housing body for stably developing a check valve function without producing elastic deformation or elongation with high pressure in a high pressure oil chamber or a high-temperature change of oil in an engine room. SOLUTION: The check valve unit 140 of the hydraulic tensioner 100 consists of a check ball valve 141 for restricting the flow of pressure oil, a steel ball guide 142 having an inner peripheral wall for giving idling to the check ball valve 141, a steel retainer 143 mounted on the high pressure oil chamber side of the ball guide 142, and a steel ball seat 144 mounted on the pressure oil supply side of the ball guide 142. A plurality of unit fixing swollen portions 142c to be pressed and fixed into plunger storage holes 111 are provided on the ball guide 142. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
