PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a multi-functional vinyl aromatic copolymer having an excellent heat resistance and thermal decomposition resistance, excellent in curing property, having functional groups enabling to impart functions such as bonding property, etc., at its terminals and also equipped with both of a controlled molecular weight distribution excellent in molding processability and solvent dissolvability. SOLUTION: This multi-functional vinyl aromatic copolymer having phenolic hydroxy groups at its terminals, excellent in heat resistance, bonding property, etc., and obtained by copolymerizing a divinyl aromatic compound and a monovinyl aromatic compound is provided by introducing the phenolic hydroxy groups in a part of the terminal groups and also setting the content of recurring unit having a pendant vinyl group as 10 to 90 mol%.
