PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic shock absorber of a self-leveling type capable of precluding foreign matter inclusion into the oil caused by welding spatters and also deformation caused by the welding heat. SOLUTION: A piston 24 coupled with a piston rod 27 is fitted in a cylinder 3 in which oil is encapsulated, whereby a damping force is generated by an elongation side disc valve 31, a contraction side disc valve 32, and an orifice 33, and adjustment of the vehicle height is made by a self-leveling mechanism S while the oil is given and received between the cylinder 3 and an oil tank 10. A bladder 12 of the oil tank 10 is clamped between the outer flange part 9 of a partitioning member 8 and a case 2. Therein the oil tank 10 is formed without welding, which precludes foreign matter inclusion into the oil caused by welding spatters and also deformation caused by the heat. An O-ring 49 is fitted on the outer flange part 9, which allows reducing the pressure applied from a reserver 11 to the clamp part of the bladder 12 and also preventing the bladder 12 from slipping off.
