PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a covering member for an engine capable of improving rigidity while restraining increase of the weight, and capable of diffusing radiated sound. SOLUTION: In a gear case cover 6, a flywheel housing 16 and a fuel injection pump cover 40 which are the covering members of the engine covering a side part of the engine in a crankshaft direction, an irregular curved covering part having a constant thickness is formed at least on a part of the gear case cover 6, the flywheel housing 16 and the fuel injection pump cover 40.
