PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle travel safety device capable of prompting correction on road surface condition settings, when entering a curve. SOLUTION: The vehicle travel safety device 10 comprises: a road data storage part 11; an own vehicle position detection part 12; a vehicle condition detection part 13 for detecting the vehicle condition of the own vehicle; a curve recognition part 15 for recognizing a curve existing in the traveling direction of the own vehicle; a road surface condition setting part 23 allowing a driver to set a road surface condition; a proper vehicle condition setting part 16 for setting a proper vehicle condition, allowing for proper passage through the curve recognized by the curve recognition part; a comparison part 17 for comparing the vehicle condition detected by the vehicle condition detection part 13 with the proper vehicle condition set by the proper vehicle condition setting part 16; and an actuation part 18 for actuating a safety device, when the own vehicle is not in the proper vehicle condition, based on a result of the comparison by the comparison part 17. The vehicle travel safety device 10 further comprises a road surface condition determining part 24 for determining whether the road surface condition set by means of the road surface condition setting part 23 is proper and informs the driver, when it is determined by the road surface condition determining part 24 that the road surface condition setting is not proper.
