The present invention relates to a methodfor treatment of a patient suffering from a disease related to polymorphisms in the CIAS1 and/or CARD8 genes characterized in that it comprisesthesteps -obtaining information on polymorphisms in the CIAS1 and/or CARD8 genes in the genome of said patient; -treating said patient with an IL blocking therapy if said patient has at least one polymorphism in the CIAS1 and/or CARD8 genes. The invention further relates to interleukin (IL) inhibitors for use in such methods, to methods for determining if a patient is susceptible to treatment with IL- inhibitorsand kits for use in such methods.
