The device has a laminar heating unit including metal for induction heating. The heating unit extends in a longitudinal direction (8) and a transverse direction (10) pointing perpendicular to the direction (8). The thickness of a material (18) e.g. animal food, is smaller than a dimension in the longitudinal direction or the transverse direction. The heating unit is connected with a handle (12) at an end area and freely ends at another end area facing the direction (8). The handle is thermally insulated and held at the heating unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for inductive warming of a material.
