<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a regeneration optical clock signal with a repetitive frequency, which coincides with the bit rate frequency of an optical signal, from the optical signal without relying on the polarization direction of an input optical signal. <P>SOLUTION: An optical clock signal regeneration device, which includes a mode-locking laser element, a signal light provision component and an optical clock signal formation component, is provided. The mode-locking laser element oscillates laser oscillation light in the form of an optical pulse string with the repetitive frequency which approximates the bit rate frequency of the inputted signal light. The signal light provision component includes a polarization separating part for polarization-separating the inputted input signal light, adjusts the polarization directions of one polarization separation light and/or the other polarization separation light, thereby allowing the respective polarization directions of both the polarization separation lights, which are polarization-separated and have respectively orthogonal light axes, to be coincident in the respective polarization directions, and gives the synthetic light of one and the other polarization separation lights to the mode-locking laser element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
