PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an light emitting drive method capable of driving a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp for a long lifetime by suppressing premature deterioration of luminance and an emitter. SOLUTION: In this light emitting drive method of a field emission type cold-cathode fluorescent lamp, an electric field is formed in a space between an anode and a cathode facing each other by impressing an voltage between the anode and the cathode to make electrons emitted from the cathode to the anode, and the electrons are made to collide with a phosphor to make the phosphor emit light. Even if an IV characteristic curve showing the relation of the voltage between the anode and the cathode and an emission current changes, the voltage between the anode and cathode and the emission current are controlled so that power which is the product of the voltage between the anode and the cathode and the emission current becomes fixed.
