PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of precisely specifying a travel position of the own vehicle and precisely obtaining a distance from a prescribed position ahead of the own vehicle in the travel direction, to provide an on-vehicle device and a transmitter making up the communication system and to provide a vehicle equipped with the in-vehicle device. SOLUTION: When the on-vehicle device 20 determines that the own vehicle exists in an area A where a communication with an optical beacon 10 can be carried out, the position of the own vehicle in the area A is precisely specified, and the distance from a stop line P is precisely computed, based on positional information of the area A stored in the in-vehicle device 20, positional information of transmitters 30, 40, a distance between the upstream end of the area A and the stop line P, and an arrival time difference between respective signals transmitted by the transmitters 30, 40.
