<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent bit errors caused in a flash memory. <P>SOLUTION: It is examined whether temporary storage data read from a flash memory 4 by a host system 2 exceeds a threshold value relating to a bit error, and when it exceeds the threshold value, read temporary storage data is re-written in the flash memory 4. When an error exists in the temporary storage data, the error is corrected by an error correcting part 6 and the data is re-written. The threshold value includes, for example, the number of read times, the number of bit errors, and the accumulated number of times of occurrence of bit errors. The method is preferable for preventing a bit error by read-disturb, bit data changed with time can be restored, and reliability of the flash memory 4 can be improved by preventing occurrence of a bit error. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
