PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication module capable of function expansion by the insertion of an external medium with a specified function, and a mobile communication terminal utilizing such a wireless communication module. SOLUTION: The wireless communication module 300 is operated as the mobile communication terminal together with a main body apparatus and comprises: a first interface connectable with a main body apparatus interface; a module control part for transmitting and receiving data signals to/from a main body apparatus control part through the prescribed data signal line of the first interface; a wireless communication circuit for transmitting and receiving the data signals to/from the module control part and transmitting and receiving encoded voice signals to/from the voice encoding/decoding part of the main body apparatus through the first interface; an antenna; and a slot 302 provided with a second interface for external medium connection. The transmission/reception system of the data signals through the data signal line is selected from a plurality of systems corresponding to control signals on the prescribed signal line of the interface.
