PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanning device for acquiring accurate shading correction data while always maintaining a distance between a freely movable white member located opposite the scanning position and the document scanning surface. SOLUTION: The image scanning device includes a scanning unit 4 having contact glass 7 through which an image is scan from a document; backup glass 52 located opposite the contact glass 7 of the scanning unit 4 so as to form a conveying path 13 between the backup glass and the contact glass 7 through which the document is passed; a white member 53 located on a rear surface side which is different from the contact glass 7 side of the backup glass 52; a support plate 54 that allows the white member 53 to pivot between a position where the white member 53 stands opposite the contact glass 7 via the backup glass 52 and a retract position where the white member is retracted from the position where the white member stands opposite the contact glass 7; and a regulating member 70 provided between the backup glass 52 and the white member 53 so as to create a specified gap between the white member and the rear surface of the transparent member.
