PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set a group ID and an address, even if the configuration of a system is changed by automatically assigning a group ID into an I/O unit, and detecting configuration errors. SOLUTION: When power is turned on in a numerical control device 10, group IDs 1, 2, ..., are assigned to I/O units U1, U2, ..., in the order starting from near the numerical control device 10, and the kinds of respective units U1, U2, ..., are stored. A group ID which is assigned at initial power on time, after the construction of the numerical control device system is set as the initial value, and an address is attached to this group ID. If the kind and the number of the unit to a group ID assigned when power is turned on at second time and after are different from the initial values, an alarm is output. If the system is deliberately changed, validity/invalidity is set to the group ID of the initial value. A group ID, the kind of unit and the address are adjusted by this setting. Difference in the system configurations can be detected, and the configuration can be deliberately changed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
