摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maximally exhibit the shock absorbing effect by buckling of buckling plates of a collapse strength variable device when a vehicle collides. SOLUTION: Out of an iron material first buckling plate and a shape memory alloy second buckling plate superposed so as to integrally buckle by a collision load, since the first buckling plate has a characteristic of gradually reducing after reaching the peak by suddenly heightening a load in response to an increase in a displacement quantity and the second buckling plate has a characteristic of gradually increasing from a point reaching the bottom by suddenly reducing after reaching the peak by suddenly heightening the load in response to the increase in the displacement quantity, the shock absorbing effect of the collapse strength variable device can be maximally exhibited by keeping the sum of the loads of the first and second buckling plates in a substantially constant high value in a collision process by starting deformation in the first buckling plate when the load reaches the peak when the second buckling plate starts deformation. A time difference is realized by lengthening the length in the car body longitudinal direction of the second buckling plate more than the length in the car body longitudinal direction of the first buckling plate.
