PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved production process for acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile. SOLUTION: A recovery process of acetonitrile or methacrylonitrile obtained from a reactor effluent of ammoxidation reaction of propylene or isobutylene is provided, which process comprises a step for passing the reactor effluent through an absorption column, a recovery column and a stripping column, wherein the improved point comprises that the recovery column top pressure is increased by about 0.1 psi to 5 psi by using a mechanical means to improve hydraulic capacity of the recovery column and the stripping column.
