<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferritic stainless steel, even if being applied to any exhaust gas passage member in which the maximum arrival temperature is high or low, exhibiting excellent thermal stress properties, and also having excellent low temperature toughness. <P>SOLUTION: The stainless steel for an automobile exhaust gas passage member has a composition comprising, by mass,≤0.03% C,≤1% Si,≤1.5% Mn,≤0.6%Ni, 10 to 20% C, >0.5 to 0.7% Nb, 0.05 to 0.3% Ti, >1 to 2% Cu,≤0.2% V,≤0.03% N and 0.0005 to 0.02% B, if required, further comprising≤0.1% Al, or further comprising one or more kinds selected from Mo, W, Zr and Co in the range of≤4% in total, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and has a structure where the number of a Cu phase(s) and an Nb compound phase(s) with the major axis of≥0.5μm is≤10 pieces/25μm<SP>2</SP>, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
