PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart a display effect to a content, that a user desires to view, at expected timing according to the content. SOLUTION: A television 10 is provided with: a tuner 11, a main control part 15; a display control part 20; a display part 18; and an effect impartation part 30. The display control part 20 is provided with: a selector 21; a video construction part 22; and an effect reflection part 23. The effect reflection part 23 imparts the display effect decided by the effect impartition part 30 to the content. In the effect impartment part 30, a content determination part 31 determines whether the display effect is imparted to the content or not, a genre specification part 32 specifies a jenre of the content, and a pattern selection part 33 selects the display effect to be imparted to the content.
