PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of obtaining output characteristics high enough to activate portable equipment. SOLUTION: A cathode conductive layer is provided with a plurality of cathode electrode parts equipped with holes in contact with and in electric conduction with a cathode gas diffusion layer for letting fuel pass through to an membrane electrode assembly and arranged in virtually the same plane, and a cathode insulating seal frame for positioning and retaining the plurality of cathode electrode parts. The anode conductive layer is provided with a plurality of anode electrode parts equipped with holes in contact with and in electric conduction with an anode gas diffusion layer for letting fuel pass through to an membrane electrode assembly and arranged in virtually the same plane, and an anode insulating seal frame for positioning and retaining the plurality of anode electrode parts.
