The present invention refers to a process for the synthesis of (1-{1-(R)-(E)-{3-[2-(7-chloro-quinolin-2-yl)-vinyl]-phenyl}-3-[2-(1-hydroxy-1-methyl-ethyl)-phenyl]-propylsulf anylmethyl}-cyclopropyl)-acetic acid or its salts, comprising the reaction between 7-Chloro-2-vinyl-quinoline and a compound of formula (I) wherein X is a halogen atom or a group of formula -OSO<SUB>2</SUB>R, wherein R is selected from the group consisting of CF<SUB>3</SUB>, tolyl, methyl and F; in the presence of a palladium based catalyst. The invention is also directed to intermediates compounds of the process.
