<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste management system, a server and a waste storage container for managing the proper disposal of articles. <P>SOLUTION: This waste management system is provided with a server 12 having a selling object database 11 in which personal identification information to identify a cigarette purchaser and article identification information to identify cigarette are stored so as to be associated with each other; a cigarette automatic vending machine 14 for acquiring the personal identification information of the cigarette purchaser, and for transmitting the personal identification information and the article identification information of an article to be sold to the cigarette purchaser to be specified on the basis of the personal identification information through a network 13 to the server 12; and an on-road ashtray 16 for reading the article identification information of the disposed cigarette, and for transmitting the article identification information through the network 13 to the server 12.
