<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction of a precursor for manufacturing an Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconducting wire rod, adapted to reduce an alternating current loss and exhibit a good superconducting property, by maintaining the workability during the surface reduction processing using Nb as a material of a diffusion barrier layer and making a sectional construction of the precursor more appropriate, and to provide an Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconducting wire rod manufactured by such a precursor. <P>SOLUTION: The precursor for manufacturing the superconducting wire rod has a superconducting matrix section having a plurality of Nb base filaments made of Nb or an Nb base alloy in a Cu-Sn base alloy, and a diffusion barrier layer or a stabilized copper layer made of Nb or an Nb base alloy on an outer periphery of the superconducting matrix section. A Cu base alloy layer is interposed between the diffusion barrier layer and the superconducting matrix section, the Cu base alloy layer being composed of a Cu base alloy containing one or more kinds of materials selected from the group consisting of Zn, Al, Mn, Pb and P not less than 0.1% (% means mass%: this remains the same hereinafter) and not more than 10% in total. An average thickness d in the final profile after the surface reduction processing is not less than 3μm and not greater than 20μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
