METHOD FOR JOINING COATED COMPONENTS OR WIRES USING LASER PULSES

A method is described for laser joining coated components or wires using a pulsed solid laser, by stripping the coating and joining the joint surfaces in a processing step in which a laser pulse is directed to the joint surface during the joining process, and the power of the laser pulse is varied by pulse shaping in such a manner that, at the beginning of the joining process, power is set at a lower level suitable for removing the coating, and then at a higher level suitable for joining.
