The stapler (1) has a repository (4) for stocking clips (5), a clip feeding device (6), and a pusher (9) that is operated by an operating device (8), where each clip is pressed out by the pusher from the stapler. The stapler directs over a clip deformation device so that an arm of the clip is laterally bent when pressing out the clip. The pusher is formed at a side facing the clip such that the clip is deformed in a tooth shaped manner at the side when pushing out the stapler. The clip is pushed out from the stapler against a counter-pressure plate (11) of the deformation device.
