<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light receiving element having a small number of metal lines on a thin film transistor array substrate to improve an aperture ratio of a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: This light receiving element has a first electroconductive line, a second electroconductive line, a switching TFT (thin film transistor) 210, and a photodetector. The switching TFT 210 has a first gate electrode, a first terminal electrode, and a second terminal electrode, the first gate electrode is electrically connected to the first electroconductive line, and the first terminal electrode is electrically connected to the second electroconductive line.
